Microsoft SQL Server through Qixium Agent

Read and write local SQL tables, choose SQL or Windows authentication and use Data Link or External Data Portals.

On this page7 topics

Connect a database inside your network

The SQL Server connector reads and writes local Microsoft SQL Server tables through the Agent. Use the database as a workflow source, enrichment or an agreed target while retaining its local network boundary.

Configuration

Create a SQL Server connection, select the Agent and reload its configurations. Complete the generated file in C:\Qixium\configs\SQLServer, reload and check connectivity and a controlled read.

Authentication

SQL authentication uses datasource, userName, password and catalog. Windows authentication uses a connectionString with Integrated Security=SSPI and the Agent service account. The source states that a non-empty connectionString takes precedence in the Windows route. Use narrowly scoped accounts, protect configuration files and do not default to sa.

Data Link and External Data Portals

Data Link maps selected source data into an entity. External Data Portals exposes the selected SQL object as an external entity. Both require stable unique keys. Explicitly agree fields, write direction, source ownership and conflict handling.

Approve writes separately

Start with read and compare. Permit only agreed database operations after validation. Missing source rows do not automatically authorise deletions. The source's Truncate target table option clears the target before loading and must not be the default for existing records.

Example: local inventory to a CMDB

Read permitted assets, match stable keys and compare ownership, status and location with the chosen CMDB. Review conflicts before updating fields. TOPdesk or Matrix42 are possible destinations subject to an available, configured interface.
